LOVEFiLM cliam to have the largest selection of titles available (over 65,000) with the latest releases available every week in various formats (DVD, HD-DVD and Blueray). Once your free trial is completed then prices start from £3.99 a month for the 2 discs a month option and go up to £15.49 for the 3 disc unlimited option. These prices are about mid range for DVD online rental, but the quality of service should more than make up for this. TESCO DVD rental offers one of the cheapest options if you are looking for long term DVD rental. The service is actually provided by LOVEFiLM but has the advantage that you can get clubpoints onto your TESCO card by using the service. Prices start at £3.88 a month and go up to £14.97 for the 3 disc unlimited option. One of the drawbacks is that the range of choice is only just above the 30,000 range at the time of writing. In terms of the FREE trial you can trial the service for 3 weeks before you need to commit

Blockbuster are a houshold name. Prices are higher than LOVEFiLM for the starting option at £12.99 for the 2 discs a month option but they are cheaper for the 3 disc unlimited option (£15.49). In terms of free trials, the offer is not nearly as good as the LOVEFiLM trial above. The trial offers for two DVDs ar a time are as follows:

1. Two weeks for £1.

2. Two weeks for £2.50 including two in-store rental movies as well.

Cinema Paradiso is an independent online DVD rental service that was started in 2003. There are now over 65,000 titles available to rent. Some of the advantages of Cinema Paradiso is that there are no late fees. Also, you can get FREE first class postage both ways, so no long waits for your DVDs. There is a free trial which you can take advantage of for 14 days and once this is over then you will need to pay £4.89 per month to continue to use the service. A nice alternative if you are looking for a dvd provider not run by LOVEFiLM.

easyCinema DVD rental is another provider that is owned by LOVEFiLM. There are over 56,000 titles to choose from, so the choice is excellent. The serive that easyCinema offer is slightly different in terms of you purhase credits each month. See the easyCinema site for more details on the matter. In terms of a FREE trial there unfortunatley isnt one. There is a moneyback guarantee for the first 7 days of usage though.

There is now a new entrant into the online DVD rental market. LidlMovies have the bold claim of being the cheapest dvd rental provider in the UK, beating LOVEFiLM, Blockbuster and TESCO. There is a 1 month FREE trial which you can take advantage of, and 65,000 different DVDs to choose from. Apparently there are no due dates, late fees or contracts to have to worry about. This is not a service that we have tried out ourselves yet, hence the fact that we cant rank them higher, but they are probably worth checking out if you are looking for an alternative options to those above.
